Not just a network, a community.

People need people.

Like me, many independent consultants and coaches become independent because they want freedom, autonomy, and choice. Maybe that's you, too.

The irony is that we're people people, and working as independents extracts us from our team and reduces our connections with fellow-professionals and like-minded people.

Some of us would like to change that, so we're building a community - not just a network.

What's the difference? A network is vital, but it is largely transactional. We all use it to leverage expertise, resources, and connections. There's nothing at all wrong with that but, for many of us, it's missing something.

A community is a network comprised of people with a shared interest and sense of identity around a topic that is meaningful to its members; a place where there is a collective intention—however implicit—to steward a domain of knowledge, and to help each other grow.

Our Community PURPOSE

CONNECTION AND COLLABORATION

A safe, confidential space where we can relax, chat, make new friends and catch up with old ones. Where we can share our aspirations and concerns. Where we can get genuine support, constructive challenge, and generate energy - all with people with whom we share a set of core values and a real interest in our profession and its purposeful work.

LEARNING AND

GROWTH

An active, empowering, and purposeful  community; sharing ideas, supporting each other, sharing information, models, and frameworks, setting up Action Learning Sets, running Masterclasses, round tables, and co-coaching circles - learning together and growing in  directions that we deeply value and enjoy.

ELEVATING

AND

EMPOWERING

We are all earning a living and all want to do interesting and rewarding work.  By elevating our professional practices by collaborating as a community and exploring how we can work together - by leveraging our our collective intelligence, contacts, resources, and capabilities - we can show up as a team of experts who can deliver world-class solutions at whatever scale attracts us.

THE AIM OF THE COMMUNITY IS TO:

  1. Provide connection, support, and appropriate challenge for each other; helping us all achieve personal objectives.
  2. Enable us all to learn and grow in those professional domains in which we wish to be expert and make a meaningful contribution.
  3. Generate collaborations to win and deliver brilliant solutions for great clients:
  4. providing community members with a reliable source of interesting work
  5. enabling community members to deliver larger-scale projects by accessing the community’s expertise and resources.

ENABLING TALENT WILL SUPPORT THIS BY:

Businesses that are committed to building a global presence have been selecting and developing leaders remotely for some time. As a result, our consultants have been involved in delivering remote assessments since around 2005. Since covid, more and more businesses have realised that leaders in global businesses have to lead people and generate teamwork remotely, rather than face-to-face. When we speak of leadership today there is no longer an assumption that people will be in the same room. It's vital to realise that leading people from a distance places different demands on a leader and makes new demands of the team. If you're looking for people to lead geographically distributed and remote-working teams you really need to assess their leadership capability in that context. Our consultants have assessed hundreds of senior leaders using remote assessments. It offers many advantages. A well-designed remote assessment enables you to create a truly immersive experience that faithfully represents the demands and challenges of the role you're recruiting for. This matters matters. Research shows that assessments that take into account the context in which leaders are being asked to perform are four times more accurate at predicting leadership potential than generic assessments. This means that the combination of bespoke content and realistic assessment methodology ensure your potential leaders and hires are demonstrating their capabilities in a simulation setting that is highly predictive of their actual capability and potential. Here's one example of such an assessment - a leadership simulation called SkyFly, co-created with a client to represent their specific business context:
